With the appointment of Will McCrohon as wagyu livestock coordinator in 2024, Andrews Meat Industries was keen to organise an event to reconnect with the producers behind the wagyu program.
A number of wagyu producers were invited to attend a full day event in Leeton, beginning at JBS Riverina. There, the group was welcomed into the conference room where plant manager Bob Johnston gave an informative presentation detailing operations at the Riverina feedlot and processing plant. This was followed by an in-depth guided tour of the processing plant, where producers were blown away by the efficiency and scale of the operation.
Next was a trip to JBS Prime City feedlot where all wagyu cattle are grain-fed for a minimum of 350 days. Upon arrival, the team at JBS Prime City provided warm hospitality, including a delicious lunch. Site manager Aaron Graham delivered an insightful presentation before leading an engaging tour of the feedlot, further deepening the group’s understanding of this stage of the supply chain.
For many, the behind-the-scenes access to both facilities was a highlight and producers came away with a far deeper appreciation for the quality and scale of work being done throughout the supply chain.
The day concluded with a dinner at the Hydro Hotel in Leeton. While the chef prepared the Tajima wagyu striploin MB8+ for dinner, AMI CEO Peter Andrews and AMI Export GM Jeremy Stuart shared insights into their respective areas of the supply chain and held an open Q&A session, allowing producers the opportunity to ask further questions and share feedback.
To close the event, Ruminati CEO and founder Bobby Miller introduced the emissions tracking platform now available at no cost to all producers in the Andrews Meat wagyu programme – highlighting the shift toward sustainability and data transparency.
The event received overwhelmingly positive feedback, with many producers expressing their gratitude for the open dialogue and insight. From start to finish, the day ran seamlessly - a reflection of the professionalism, collaboration and attention to detail shown by each team involved.

A heartfelt thank you to the JBS livestock team, the Riverina team and the Prime City team for their help in making the event such a meaningful success. Producers walked away more informed, more connected, and proud to be part of a world-class wagyu supply chain.
